The Canadian $5 Bill

The Canadian $5 bill is the smallest banknote currently issued by the Bank of Canada. The front of the bill has a portrait of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the coat of arms, and a picture of the West Blocks of the Parliament buildings. The reverse side of the bill shows children playing winter sports, such as, sledding, ice skating, and hockey.

Special things about the Canadian five-dollar bill include raised, texture printing and a tactile feature, a lot like braille dots, to help blind people to identify it. There is also some nifty security features including “BANK OF CANADA” and “BANQUE DU CANADA” visible only under ultraviolet light. Other security features include a holographic stripe and a watermark of Laurier that appears in light.
